At Artemano, we like to innovate. During our trips to Asia, we usually find new interesting materials. In our latest visit, we fell in love with Tamarin wood. It is now part of our collection.
Tamarin wood grows in forests in north of Thailand, but it's originally from Africa. It is grown for its fruits that are used in cooking, and its leaves that have medicinal use. This tree has a great hard wood, still unknown to the furniture world. The sapwood of the tamarin tree is pale-yellow, and the heartwood is rather small, dark purplish-brown.
This new collection is hand made by Thai carpenters, in very simple designs. The wood is sliced and each board is chosen for its shape and grain, to become a unique piece. The clear lacquer protects the wood for everyday use.
This collection presents dining tables, consoles and coffee tables. The black iron legs create contemporary and pure lines. The wood, left in its natural shape, brings nature to modern life.
The pieces from this collection are available in limited quantities in our Montreal, Laval and Brossard stores.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information or pictures of this collection. It will be a pleasure for me to help you share our passion.
